Mi vida como autor es un viaje de exploración constante entre mis raíces en Cuba, mi identidad en los Estados Unidos y mi otro hogar en Costa Rica. Cada obra que he escrito representa un fragmento de esa odisea personal, transformada en una búsqueda filosófica y humana. Para mí, escribir no es únicamente un acto creativo, sino una responsabilidad consciente con la historia, la memoria y el pensamiento crítico.

My life as an author is a journey of constant exploration between my roots in Cuba, my identity in the United States, and my other home in Costa Rica. Each work I have written represents a fragment of that personal odyssey, transformed into a philosophical and human pursuit. For me, writing is not merely a creative act, but a conscious responsibility toward history, memory, and critical thought.

Mi primera expresión artística fue la música. Desde muy joven estudié piano clásico, desarrollando una sensibilidad profunda por la armonía, la composición y la interpretación. Aquella formación despertó una creatividad que, años más tarde, encontraría nuevas formas de expresión a través de la pintura y la literatura. Aunque mi carrera tomó caminos distintos, nunca abandoné el piano, instrumento que continúo interpretando como parte esencial de mi vida artística.

My first artistic expression was music. From a young age I studied classical piano, developing a deep sensitivity for harmony, composition, and performance. That training awakened a creativity that, years later, would find new forms of expression through painting and literature. Although my career took different paths, I never set the piano aside — it remains an essential part of my artistic life to this day.

Entre 1984 y 1990 desarrollé una activa carrera como artista plástico en Chicago, donde realicé más de 150 pinturas originales en óleo y acrílico. Mi trabajo exploraba el retrato, la figura humana, composiciones simbólicas y series temáticas completas — desde el color vibrante del Carnaval hasta los rostros introspectivos pintados en tonos de azul profundo. Estas obras fueron presentadas en diversas galerías del área metropolitana de Chicago, donde fui consolidando un estilo caracterizado por el uso expresivo del color, la luz y la narrativa visual.

Between 1984 and 1990, I built an active career as a visual artist in Chicago, producing more than 150 original paintings in oil and acrylic. My work explored portraiture, the human figure, symbolic compositions, and complete thematic series — from the vibrant color of Carnaval to introspective faces rendered in deep blue tones. These works were shown in galleries across the Chicago metropolitan area, where I steadily developed a style defined by expressive use of color, light, and visual narrative.

Chicago representó una etapa decisiva en mi formación artística. La riqueza cultural de la ciudad, sus museos y su ambiente creativo ejercieron una profunda influencia en mi evolución como artista y en la filosofía que, con el tiempo, impregnaría también mi obra literaria.

Chicago represented a decisive stage in my artistic formation. The city's cultural richness, its museums, and its creative atmosphere profoundly shaped my evolution as an artist — and, in time, the philosophy that would come to run through my literary work as well.

En 1996 participé en una exposición benéfica celebrada en el histórico Hotel Biltmore, en Coral Gables, Florida. La muestra fue organizada por una fundación dedicada al apoyo del personal de enfermería y reunió a diversos artistas con fines benéficos. Esta participación representó uno de los momentos más significativos de mi carrera como pintor, y reafirmó mi convicción de que el arte puede ser también un vehículo de servicio y compromiso social.

In 1996, I took part in a benefit exhibition held at the historic Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Florida. The show was organized by a foundation supporting nursing professionals and brought together several artists for a charitable cause. My participation stands as one of the most meaningful moments of my career as a painter, reaffirming my belief that art can also be a vehicle for service and social commitment.

The Birth of the Author

En 2009 inicié oficialmente mi carrera como autor independiente con la publicación de Ángel vs. Josephus y la Ciencia, mi primer libro. Ese título marcó el comienzo de una nueva etapa creativa que se intensificaría con los años. En 2015 publiqué El Mundo al Revés: Cómo Vivimos Hoy en una Sociedad Desquiciada, una obra de análisis y reflexión social que amplió el alcance de mi trabajo como escritor y forma parte de mis primeras publicaciones disponibles internacionalmente, tanto en formato impreso como digital. Desde entonces he publicado docenas de libros en español e inglés, sobre temas tan diversos como filosofía, educación, matemáticas, desarrollo personal, espiritualidad, ética, ficción y literatura infantil.

In 2009, I officially began my career as an independent author with the publication of my first book, Ángel vs. Josephus y la Ciencia. That title marked the start of a new creative chapter that would intensify over the following years. In 2015, I published El Mundo al Revés: Cómo Vivimos Hoy en una Sociedad Desquiciada, a work of social analysis and reflection that expanded the reach of my writing and stands among my first titles available internationally in both print and digital formats. Since then, I have published dozens of books in Spanish and English, spanning subjects as varied as philosophy, education, mathematics, personal development, spirituality, ethics, fiction, and children's literature.

Mi transición hacia la literatura no significó un abandono de las artes visuales, sino una evolución natural de la misma creatividad. Los colores fueron sustituidos por palabras, pero la esencia permaneció intacta: mi experiencia como pintor sigue presente en la riqueza visual de mis descripciones, en el simbolismo de mis historias, y en la manera en que construyo escenarios capaces de transportar al lector a nuevos mundos.

My transition into literature did not mean abandoning the visual arts, but a natural evolution of the same creative impulse. Color gave way to words, but the essence remained intact: my experience as a painter is still present in the visual richness of my descriptions, in the symbolism of my stories, and in the way I build settings capable of carrying the reader into new worlds.

Paralelamente a mi actividad artística y literaria, he desarrollado una vocación sostenida por la enseñanza. Mi interés por las matemáticas, el idioma, la filosofía y el pensamiento crítico ha influido de manera directa en mi producción intelectual. Como educador, promuevo una visión del aprendizaje basada en la comprensión y la capacidad de cuestionar — principios que se reflejan de forma constante en mis publicaciones.

Alongside my artistic and literary work, I have developed a sustained vocation for teaching. My interest in mathematics, language, philosophy, and critical thought has shaped my intellectual output directly. As an educator, I favor a view of learning grounded in understanding and the capacity to question — principles that run consistently through my publications.

The Celestial Odyssey

Entre mis proyectos literarios más ambiciosos está La Odisea Celestial, una serie de diez libros que combina fantasía, filosofía y reflexión existencial. A través de portales, personajes simbólicos y escenarios multidimensionales, la obra invita al lector a explorar la conciencia, el tiempo, la memoria, la imaginación y el crecimiento espiritual. Cada portal constituye una experiencia independiente que, al mismo tiempo, forma parte de una travesía mayor hacia el conocimiento interior.

Among my most ambitious literary projects is The Celestial Odyssey, a ten-book series that combines fantasy, philosophy, and existential reflection. Through portals, symbolic characters, and multidimensional settings, the work invites the reader to explore consciousness, time, memory, imagination, and spiritual growth. Each portal stands as an independent experience while remaining part of a larger journey toward inner knowledge.

Para mí, la música, la pintura, la literatura, la educación y la tecnología no son disciplinas aisladas, sino distintas manifestaciones de una misma vocación creadora. Es la misma convicción que dio origen a Mitalilu, la plataforma que fundé para conectar comunidades y ampliar las oportunidades de quienes desean compartir su trabajo con el mundo — la certeza de que el conocimiento y el arte pueden convertirse en instrumentos capaces de transformar vidas.

For me, music, painting, literature, education, and technology are not separate disciplines, but different expressions of the same creative calling. It's the same conviction that gave rise to Mitalilu, the platform I founded to connect communities and expand opportunities for those who want to share their work with the world — the certainty that knowledge and art can become instruments capable of changing lives.

Desde los cinco años estudié piano, en un entorno artístico familiar ligado al teatro. Sigue siendo un espacio íntimo de exploración personal — una extensión sonora de los mismos portales que abro al escribir.

I began studying piano at age five, in a family environment closely tied to theater. It remains an intimate space for personal exploration — a sonic extension of the same portals I open when writing.
